Make it New Again

We spent two and a half years renovating our first home, a 1920s Craftsman in Northeast Portland suffering from decades of neglect and cheaply executed updates. We could have just repaired the damage and freshened the surfaces, but that's not our style. We stripped the house to the studs, replaced the plumbing and wiring, opened up the floor plan, fenced and landscaped the yard, and created a dream kitchen and two dream bathrooms. You can see highlights below and read full documentation of the project on our personal blog.

If you are considering buying a fixer, we'd love to help you find a classic Portland home with great bones to suit your budget and appetite for sweat equity. We can help you see past shabby cosmetics, unfortunate modifications, and dated floor plans to envision a home's creative potential. We'll advise you which projects make the best use of your labor and which projects should be delegated to professionals. We can even coach you on scouring Craigslist and the local salvage warehouses for vintage hardware and great deals on materials.
